History of GOBE! - Who are we?

The birth of an idea

The core team of GOBE! constitutes of students and alumnis from both the University of St.Gallen, leading business school in Switzerland, and the Technical University of Kumasi, Ghana.
The idea for GOBE! arose at the International Management Symposium ISC in St. Gallen, Switzerland, in May 2002. An exchange of ideas between Felix Tsinase, graduate in engineering at the Technical University of Kumasi, Ghana, and Simon Michel, graduate in media- and communications management and entrepreneur at the University of St.Gallen, triggered the initiation of a first social project in Kumasi/Ghana.

Learning about the urgent need for better educational facilities in Ghana and the potential associated with improving the general level of computer literacy in this country led to the creation of a project team and a close cooperation with START, an international initiative to support entrepreneurship among students. Together with four graduate students of the University of St.Gallen, Ulrich Erxleben, Hanno Stegmann, Alexander Dettmer and Friedrich-August Neuman, Felix Tsinase and Simon Michel are motivated to fight the digital divide. Beginning of 2002 Felix received strong support through Paul Alagidede.

On 1st August 2002 GOBE! is founded and since then operational with a total of approx. 300% man-working and an office in St.Gallen.
